Recovery & care
Luxor & Aswan
Upper Egypt's therapy retreats, where convalescence meets the world's greatest open-air heritage. Dry, warm air and the slow rhythm of a curated Nile cruise make Luxor and Aswan a restful place to heal after surgery in Cairo. A short domestic flight brings you here for the gentlest possible recovery — temples and river by day, an early night every night.
Travel & visa
- Visa
- The standard Egyptian e-Visa (USD $25, 30 days) covers Luxor and Aswan; both have airports with domestic and some international links. We arrange the invitation letter and all transfers.
- Money
- Cards work in cruise boats and larger hotels; keep cash for markets, tips and Nile crossings. Cure Pass invoices in USD or EUR.
- Language
- Arabic. English is common in tourism and on the cruises; our coordinators work in EN/AR/FR throughout.
- Climate
- Hot, very dry desert air — easy on healing chests and skin. Oct–Mar is ideal (warm, comfortable days); Apr–Sep is hot (38°C+), so outings stay early and shaded.
- Time zone
- EET, UTC+2. Two hours ahead of London, one behind the Gulf.
- Power
- 220V, Type C/F plugs (European two-prong). Cruise cabins and hotels provide universal adaptors on request.
Things to do
The Nile sets the pace here. A curated cruise keeps recovery slow, with outings short, shaded and entirely optional.
- Day 3+ — Deck rest as the river drifts by, and a short, flat evening walk along the Luxor corniche.
- Day 7+ — An early, shaded morning at Karnak or Luxor Temple, with the car close and rest built in.
- Day 10+ — The Valley of the Kings or Philae Temple at Aswan, at an easy pace, if your surgeon has cleared the day.
