Your day-by-day journey
Cairo only (6 days)
- Day 1. Arrival, hotel check-in, coordinator briefing.
- Day 2. Duplex ultrasound mapping, then the EVLA procedure itself — about 60 minutes, walk in and walk out.
- Day 3. Light recovery: gentle walking, compression garment fitted, nurse checks the leg.
- Day 4. Rest day, easy sightseeing once cleared.
- Day 5. Follow-up duplex scan confirms the vein has sealed; you're cleared to fly.
- Day 6. Departure.
Cairo + Red Sea recovery (8 days)
Because light walking speeds healing, many patients treat in Cairo on Days 1-3, then fly onward to Sharm El Sheikh or Hurghada for Days 4-6 — gentle beach walking, warm water, no diving until cleared — before a remote or in-person follow-up scan and departure on Day 8. Your coordinator books both legs as one itinerary.
Recovery timeline and when you can fly
Most discomfort settles within 48-72 hours. You wear the compression garment for one to two weeks, keep up daily walking, and avoid long-haul flights or heavy lifting until your surgeon confirms the vein has closed on the follow-up scan — typically day 4 or 5. Full cosmetic fading of the treated vein continues over several months.
Risks and how we manage them
EVLA is a well-established procedure with a strong safety record, though as with any treatment risks exist: bruising along the vein path, temporary skin numbness near the ankle, and rarely a deep-vein clot or thermal skin mark. Duplex-guided placement and tumescent anaesthesia protect the skin and nerves, compression plus early walking reduce clot risk, and Dr. Hassan reviews your scan before clearing you to fly. Varicose veins can recur elsewhere over years — this is a known long-term pattern, not a sign of a failed procedure.
